¡Bienvenido a PFLAG Connects: Comunidad Latina! Estas reuniones virtuales están abiertas a padres, familiares y miembros de la comunidad LGBTQ+ Latinos. Welcome to PFLAG Connects: Black/African American Community! These virtual meetings are open to parents, family members, and members of the LGBTQ+ community who are Black/African American. Each meeting will be led by members of the Black/African American community who will guide you in receiving support, giving support, and finding resources to help you, your family, and your community. Welcome to PFLAG Connects: Military Community! These safe, virtual, moderated monthly meetings, in partnership with our friends at Modern Military Association of America (MMAA) are open to parents, family members, and members of the LGBTQ+ community who are also part of the military community. Each meeting will be led by current/former service members or military spouses who will guide you in receiving support, giving support, and finding resources to help you, your family, and your community.

Each meeting will be led by members of the AAPI community who will guide you in receiving support, giving support, and finding resources to help you, your family, and your community. PFLAG Academy Online, the e-learning program that brings free, monthly, PFLAG members-only learning opportunities with core educational programs right to your computer screen. Benefit from PFLAG National’s great learning options, informed staff, and input from other participants without leaving home. All you’ll need is a computer (or mobile device) and the drive to move equality forward!

Sharing Your PFLAG Story to Create Change

Knowing how to shape and effectively tell our PFLAG stories to create real and lasting change is a skill that separates the talkers from activists and advocates. This highly interactive – 75 minute – session will encourage participants to pick a personal experience and develop it into an engaging, must-hear narrative that can help change hearts and minds in our communities, statehouses, and more.

In this session, we will:

Discuss how and why personal stories are so effective in creating transformative change
Review the Story Arc Model and use PFLAG National’s storytelling workbook to identify, develop, and refine our personal stories
Better understand the everchanging relationship we have with our stories and our audience over time
Fine-tune our storytelling and public speaking skills and learn strategies to calm our nerves
Consider a new way to provide feedback to others when we are preparing to share our stories as a part of public speaking events or in meetings with elected officials

We’ll also reserve time for participants to share their stories and get peer feedback!
