2021 Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to Michelle Hackett, our 2021 PFLAG Howard County-Columbia scholarship recipient! She will receive $2000 to continue her studies at the University of Maryland Global campus (UMGC). 

Michelle is a hard-working single parent of 2 children who works full time, maintains a high level of academic achievement while studying for a bachelor’s degree, participates in university-related activities/clubs, and volunteers. She is a member of the LGBTQ+ community and advocates, educates and supports on behalf of LGBTQ+ individuals in everything she does. She also promotes overall diversity. Once she completes her degree, Michelle intends to work for a non-profit which supports the LGBTQ+ community.PFLAG Columbia-Howard County is pleased to announce its 14 th annual scholarship winner is Aboli Dahiwadkar of Ellicott City, MD. Aboli will receive a $2,000 scholarship for her studies at the University of Maryland, starting this fall.

Aboli is an extraordinary student who is at the top of her graduating class at Mt Hebron high school, and who carries an impressive number and wide variety of extracurricular activities. She is a leader who, within multiple communities, actively advocates for diversity regarding race, sexual orientation, gender identity, body type, disabilities, and ethnicity. She is committed to equality and diversity, identifies needs, and personally takes responsibility for action to create supportive environments. We look forward to Aboli’s continued contributions to the LGBTQ+ community as she pursues her studies!
