November General Meeting

Transgender Awareness: Strength, Resilience, and Empowerment--a Celebration of People Who Are Transgender.

Transgender Awareness Week is November 14-20 and is an opportunity to increase visibility for transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse individuals. It is a time to celebrate transgender lives leading up to Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), which memorializes victims of transphobic violence. TDOR is an international holiday which occurs annually on November 20, when transgender advocates raise awareness of the transgender community through education and advocacy activities.
Did you know that current estimates are that there are over 1.4 million adults in the United States who are transgender--that's just 18 and over folks; so not including the number of children and teens. On November 14th, Sean Lare & Stacey Jackson-Roberts will share just a few stories of transgender people through history as a celebration of our large, diverse, and wonderful community; and, we will end with some tips for being allies to people who are transgender.
